A star-crossed prophecy. A lot of music. Just not a lot of light. In this darkly comic rock-fable, a melancholy sandwich maker’s humdrum life is intersected by two entrancing sisters. A sweeping ode to young love set against the backdrop of the Northeast blackout of 1965, Fly By Night is a tale about making your way and discovering hope in a world beset by darkness.

Comments and Reviews:

"Fly By Night will enchant audiences [...] Romance doesn’t come any sweeter than it does in this winsome love triangle set around the time of the 1965 New York blackout. The score is charming and catchy. Its unabashed emotionalism could turn it into more than a hit. It could turn it into a cult phenomenon." - New York Post

"Fly by Night is the most paradoxical of musicals – hilarious and bittersweet, deeply immersed in tradition but utterly original." - Dallas News

"Like Our Town, The Fantasticks, and maybe a sliver of Silver Linings Playbook, the show weaves into its overlapping love stories a resonating message about how the 'invisible universe' connects us all." - Dallas Observer

The ways in which these people [...] intersect are meant to evoke a cosmic pattern, a sense of the invisible connective tissue that underlies the mundane [...] The score flirts with early rock ’n’ roll, as well as recurrent motifs that are guaranteed to take up longtime residence in your ear." - The New York Times

"Wistful earnestness is a nice mode for a musical - especially a sweet-natured romantic fable such as Fly by Night." - Time Out New York

"[...] a crowdpleaser that should be a local hit, as well as a viable future prospect for other mid-sized venues." - Variety

A spoof on what it takes to make a show a hit!

It’s opening night of The Golden Egg, the latest comedy by rising playwright Peter Austin, and his rich-but-inexperienced producer is throwing a star-studded celebration at her East Side brownstone. On hand are Peter’s best friend (a wisecracking TV star who was supposed to return to Broadway in the show), the play’s flamboyant, drug-addled leading lady and bratty British director, a blowhard theater critic and a starry-eyed coat check attendant who has just arrived in New York. This nutty collection of first-night party goers keeps crossing paths in the producer’s sumptuous bedroom as they wait for the all-important judgment of the critics.

Adult Content:  some references to drug use, sexuality and language.  Not recommended for 13 years and under
